1928-2023
Donald J. Lavigne of Nackawic, NB passed away on January 13, 2023 at
his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 7, 1928
at Bathurst, NB, a son of the late Emery and Elizabeth (David)
Lavigne. Don was employed for several years at Ste. Anne Nackawic
Pulp Mill as a Millright. He enjoyed working in his garage, hunting,
fishing and trips to the woods.
He is survived by Lauza Martin; five sons, Brian (Theresa), Nackawic,
NB, Lorne (Kathy), Fredericton, NB, Kevin (Karen), Prince William, NB,
Ronnie (Glenda), Miramichi, NB, Glen (Kathleen), Mississauga, ON;
three daughters Helen Dickinson, Alberta, Lorna Cronkhite (Stephen),
Southampton, NB and Nancy Matchett (Larry), Temperance Vale, NB; a
son-in-law Robert Nason, Temperance Vale, NB; grandchildren Derrick
(Lisa), Wendy (Richard), Ricky (Ami), Christopher (Krissy), Ben
(Katie), Jeffrey, David (Marsha), Melissa, Chantal (Jeremy), Jerrica
(Chris), Taylor (Allison), Brad, (Ashley) Monica, Nathan (Afton),
Amanda (Josh), Nicole and Bryce; a granddaughter-in-law, Vanessa;
twenty-seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Doran Lavigne
(Bridgette), Ronnie Lavigne (Claudette); four sisters, Annette
Spindler (Lovette), Claudette Duguay (Raymond), Rena Pitre (Richard)
and Sharon Garrett (Roger); a sister-in-law Lillan Saunders;
brothers-in-law Gordon LeBreton (Dorothy) and Hector LeBreton (Dora);
several nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by his parents; his wife Marjorie (LeBreton)
Lavigne; a daughter Brenda Nason; a son-in-law Keith Dickinson; a
grandson Cory Lavigne and a great grandson infant Clinton Matchett;
three brothers, Clarence Lavigne (Jane), Roger Lavigne (Anolda) and
Bernard Lavigne; five sisters, Mary Gray (Red), Isabelle Aubie
(Reginald), Imelda Arseneau (Leo), Bernadette Babin (Clarence) and
Margaret Chamberlain (Kenneth).
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis
Drive, Nackawic, NB on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 6 to 9 pm. Mass
of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Simon and Jude Church,
Nackawic, NB on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 11 am with Celebrant
Father Martin Arputham. Interment will be at a later date at St.
Simon and Jude Cemetery.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Don, the family has
suggested the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Simon and Jude Cemetery
(make cheques payable to Saint John the Baptist Parish).
