In Loving Memory
Mr. William “Bill” James Balogh, formerly of Delhi , passed away at the Woodstock Hospital , on Sunday, April 21, 2024 in his 95th year. Bill was born in Bender, Saskatchewan on May 29, 1929 and grew up in the Kipling and Windthorst farming communities. He moved to Delhi , Ontario and married Ethel Kapitany in 1950. He worked for Quance Mills and drove truck for Canada Dry out of Toronto . He was hired as a mechanic at Wills Motors in Delhi because of his knowledge of and ability to repair farm equipment and was soon repairing tobacco farm equipment, tractors and combines in the community. Bill went on to obtain his mechanic licence and specialized in Rochester Carburetors. He bought his own garage, Tri County Motors, in 1960 and was owner/operator with his wife and son until 2016. Bill enjoyed horseback riding and attended many parades and trail rides on his horse Thunder. He and his wife sponsored Hungarian refugees in the 1950’s and provided a home and financial support for many. He was the President of the Delhi Langton Leafs Intermediate B hockey team, a member of IOOF, Noble Grand and Grand Master Cantons, and the Knights of Columbus. He was affiliated with the after school shop programs with DDSS and several Delhi young men were given jobs while attending school to obtain mechanics licences. Beloved husband of the Late Ethel Balogh (nee: Kapitany 2019) for 69 years. Loving father of Caroline Hallows, Mark Balogh (Catherine) and Debra Puurunen (Eric). Cherished grandfather of Bekki Zammit (Wes), Derek Balogh (Mika), Eli Puurunen (Penelope) and Lindsey Balogh (Christopher Kastelanac) and great-grandchildren Emma Puurunen and Patrick Balogh. Dear brother of Tony Balogh (Kathleen) and Robert Balogh (Mary) and brother-in-law of Darlene Balogh. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Ontario , BC and Saskatchewan . Predeceased by his parents James and Eva (nee: Leopold) Balogh, his son-in-law Ken Hallows, his two brothers James and Emile Balogh and his three sisters: Rita Latham (Late Bryan & their granddaughter Pamela), Erma Gallagher (Late Lawrence and their sons Douglas and Brian) and Mary Balogh. The family would like to thank the Murphy Funeral Home, Deacon Andy Alway, his buddy, Larry Diezyn and nephew Bob Schooley, the Woodstock Hospital 2400 Block Nurses and Dr. Howatt, Dr. Agarwall, and Dr. Ismail. A special thank you to Haylee, Dr. Mosey and Erinne Ritchie (Palliative Nursing Coordinator), nurses of Palliative Care unit and the grandchildren who were pallbearers. A Private Family Funeral Service was held with Interment in Springford Community Cemetery .
