Audrey Mae (Butler) Meisner
1937-2024
It is with great
sadness that the children of Audrey Mae Meisner (née
Butler) announce her passing in Taber, Alberta on Sunday, August 18,
2024 at the age of 87 years.
Audrey is survived by
her children Mark (Irene) Meisner, Tanya (Stan) van Gool and Susan
Sran all of Taber, AB; Jackie Rand of Port Williams; and by several
grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her
sister, Gailene (Norman) MacNeill of Prince Edward Island;
sister-in-law, Muriel Butler of Nova Scotia and by numerous nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by
her husband John «Jack» Meisner in 1987; daughter
Charlene Meisner on January 4, 2024; sons-in-law, Les Darroch in 2017
and Stephen Rand in 2020; and by her brothers, Howard (Helen) Butler
and Laurie Butler.
Audrey was born in
Pereau, Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia on May 19, 1937, the daughter of
Harry and Leona Butler. She lived most of her married life in
Lakeville, Kings County, Nova Scotia before moving to Alberta in
1998.
Audrey was a strong,
resourceful and kind woman who was loved by everyone who knew her. She
and her husband had several businesses over the years. Besides being a
great cook, Audrey enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life such as
tole painting, making wedding and birthday cakes, knitting and making
ceramics were some of her favorites. She enjoyed traveling, completing
several trips across Canada by train, plane and car as well as trips
to the United States. Audrey was a Christian woman who taught a young
girls group called the Messengers at the United Church in Taber for
several years. She also served on the board at Parkside Manor, the
seniors centre in Taber.
A private burial
service will be held in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, at a later
date. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in
Audrey’s name may be made directly to the Canadian National
Institute for the Blind (CNIB), 10 – 11A Street NE, Calgary, Alberta
T2E 4Z3 www.cnib.ca or to a
charity of one’s choice.
Audrey will
be sadly missed but fondly
remembered.
