Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Terence “Terry” A. Fraser who passed away on July 16, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Central Bedeque, PEI in 1939. His wife of 60 years, Dale, predeceased him in death on December 27, 2021. He was the only child of the late Reverend Douglass and Hazel Fraser.
He is survived by his two sons, Jon (Susan) of Saint John and Joel (Elizabeth) as well as grandchildren Holly, Benjamin, Wesley, Hope and Hudson all of Cranston, Rhode Island.
Terry Graduated from Chipman High School in 1956 and went on to earn a Civil Engineering degree from the University of New Brunswick in 1961. His entire working career of 38 years was with NBTel, starting in Outside Plant Engineering in Moncton, later moving to Saint John to the Building Division of the Engineering Department. Terry then moved on to the accounting department where he retired.
He was a committed Christian and a faithful, devoted founding member of Fundamental Baptist Church for almost 60 years. Terry’s contribution as church treasurer for most of that period as well as a deacon and trustee have proved invaluable to that congregation. When he turned his hand to completing the financial statements for this institution, the membership knew they would be precise and would follow all the accounting and tax rules laid down for such institutions. The two church builds for Fundamental Baptist had deep inputs from his architectural and engineering knowledge and experience. He was also a capable amateur carpenter if the need arose. Terry didn’t always wok at industry speed, but the finished product was guaranteed plumb and straight.
Terry had a rich baritone voice which any radio announcer would be proud to have and was a soloist and church choir member for many, many years. Through all of this, he remained a humble servant of his Lord.
After retiring, Terry and Dale spent extensive time travelling in the Eastern United States with many trips to Rhode Island to visit their grandchildren. He loved hitting the road in his big, comfortable Ford Crown Victoria’s and was quite annoyed when Ford discontinued them. They also took a trip to the UK, visiting family ancestry sights in 2011, along with enjoying time at their cottage on Shediac Bay, NB.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery. There will be a further announcement on the date for a service to honour both Terry and his wife Dale. In lieu of flowers, the family have requested donations may be made towards Windcrest Camp, care of Fundamental Baptist Church.
