YARIN, Sylvia (nee Agensky) – Peacefully, on Thursday, September 8, 2022, with her beloved family by her side. Devoted wife of Ronnie Yarin. Loving mother of Rhonda, and Michael. Caring sister and sister-in-law of Nat and Sheila Agensky, Harry and Judy Agensky and the late Ira and the late Reva Sokol. She will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews, who she loved very much. Predeceased by her parents Ruben and Jessie Agensky. Sylvia was born and raised in Montreal. She met Ronnie while on vacation in the Poconos. Smitten, he packed his bags, left Brooklyn, and headed North. She loved children and had a long teaching career in both the public and private sectors, where she was a source of inspiration to many of her students. After retirement she kept busy, volunteering at the Jewish General Hospital and at Beth Zion Congregation, as Co-President of the Sisterhood and being in charge of its weekly duplicate bridge game. She enjoyed playing bridge, with her brother being one of her favourite partners. She also enjoyed making jewelry, and somehow, she got Ronnie to agree to square dance. Sylvia was a warm and caring person. She displayed remarkable strength and bravery in her cancer battle. She was grateful for the love and support of her family and her wonderful group of friends. Most of all, she was a devoted mother who would do anything for her children. And we loved her immensely. Heartfelt thanks to the Oncology unit at the Glen, the CLSC Ren-Cassin and Dr. Golda Tradounsky and the Palliative Care team at Mount Sinai Hospital for their care and compassion. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, September 11 at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Beth Zion Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Shiva at her home. The family requests that masks be worn at the funeral service and shiva.
