Obituary
Passed peacefully away on Friday, September 23rd, 2022, Roy Anthony, aged 77, at home in the loving arms of his girls following a brave battle with cancer.
Leaving to mourn are Janet, his wife of 53 years, daughters Karen (Gary), Lisa (Chris), granddaughters Taylor and Sophie, sister Jean, brother Graham (Mary), step-grandsons Zachary and Cameron and a wide circle of family and friends.
Family was the most important thing to Roy. During a family trip to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Roy surprised Janet with a vow renewal ceremony. He savored summer camping adventures, each family supper, every vacation moment, time at the cabin and the everyday events especially with granddaughters Taylor and Sophie who were the apples of his eye.
Roy was a proud and tenacious teacher. He taught high school physics for 30 years and chemistry to nursing students, fixed and sold countless cars, had an upholstery business and was always at the ready for an odd job or to help with anything asked of him. For his children, he could fix or build anything and had the supplies on hand to do it.
Roy had an amazing kinship through his active role in the Masons. He had lifelong friends and family who shared his loves of fishing, berry picking and going in the country.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27th from 2-9 pm at Barrett’s Funeral Home on Hamilton Avenue. Funeral will take place on Wednesday, September 28th from the Church of the Ascension in Mount Pearl at 2pm. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
