Roger Restoule Thursday November 24th 2022

Restoule, Roger (1945 – 2022)
After a courageous battle with cancer, the family announces the sudden passing of Roger Restoule of Dokis First Nation (April 10, 1945-November 24, 2022), with his family by his side. Roger is survived by his loving wife Denise (nee Beaudry) of 52 years, and his children Brenda (Melvin McLeod), Keith (Taralyn), and Jenny (Robert Mallozzi). He is the proud Poppa of Brandon, Erik, Parker, Kaden, Bronte, Luca, and Sofia. He is survived by his siblings Claire Campbell (Frank), Gloria, Arthur (Danette), and Gail. Roger is predeceased by his parents Albert and Kathleen Restoule (nee Dokis), his son Barry, and his sister Marjorie Laforest (Marcel). He will be missed by his many in-laws (the Beaudry family), his nieces and nephews, and his many friends.
For over 30 years, Roger proudly served as a member of Council for Dokis First Nation. He followed in the footsteps of his grandfather Chief John C. Restoule and his uncle Chief Joe Dokis, and ensured the ongoing growth and progress of the community. His contributions to the community were many, including being a member of the volunteer fire department, serving on various local and regional committees, and actively participating in developing the community infrastructure.
Roger was a successful businessman and building contractor taking great pride in his third generation business, Restoule Construction. For over 40 years, he serviced many cottages on the French River for the summer tourists. He shared his love for construction and the river with the many teenagers and men who worked with him. He will be fondly remembered for his excellent workmanship, friendliness and fairness.
Roger’s love of the community extended not just on the river, but also to the land. He was an active logger for many years. In many ways, he was a jack of all trades and a mentor to many.
Roger was well respected and a Knowledge Keeper. He will always be remembered as someone who had a great memory and knowledge of the history of Dokis First Nation. He loved to share stories with anyone who would sit and have a coffee with him.
Roger was a hard worker, was self-taught, and was willing to learn new skills. He was generous in his time and always willing to help others. The only thing greater than the pride for his community was the pride for his family, whom he loved unconditionally.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and team at the Cancer Centre and Health Sciences North for their excellent care.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Theoret-Bourgeois Funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls, on Saturday, November 26 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, November 27 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on November 28 at the Corpus Christi Church on the Dokis Bay reserve.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cancer Society.
