Ray Urban Lee, age 83, of Tisdale, Saskatchewan passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022 after fighting a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ray was born in Tisdale, March 29, 1939 to Lester and Dora Lee. He took his schooling in Valparaiso, Saskatchewan. He helped on the family farm. In the winter of 1965-66 he went out to Prince George, British Columbia where he worked in the sawmill. In the winter of 1966-67 he went to Surrey, British Columbia where he worked at La Farg Cement.
While visiting with his cousin Mervin one night at Bill and Kathy Thiesen’s 2 ½ years earlier; he met Eleanor Hanna from Armley who happened to be boarding there and working with Kathy at OK Economy. When he was leaving that night; Ray turned to Mervin and said “That’s my wife in there”. In November 1966, he finally got the courage to ask her out, and the rest is history! They were married July 2, 1968. They lived in a little house in Valparaiso; Shannon was born in 1971, Shauna followed in 1973. In 1976 they moved into their new house on the farm and in 1977, Craig completed their family.
Life on the farm was busy with grain farming. Ray built a new pig barn and had farrow to finish with up to 200 pigs.
Ray loved spending time with family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. They never left the farm after a visit without first filling up the gas tank.
Ray is predeceased by his parents Lester and Dora, sister Lyla, brother-in-law Ed Sawicki. He was also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Owen and Kay Hanna.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Eleanor, his children: Shannon (Rick Young) of Beatty, Saskatchewan, their children Zachary (Alia), Zoe and Zara; Shauna and her children Amanda (Cody, Anna, and Liam), Jessica and Sheldon Fielder (Tatum, Grayson and Jayce), Cassidy and Coletin Kovach (Oliver), Gracie, Rylee, Chloe, Surri and Jett, and their father John Sauter; son Craig (Jodi) and their children Jackson, Cooper and Cohen. He also leaves to mourn his passing is his siblings, Wilfred (Jean), Lyall (Joan) and his sister Sandra (Ron Yaremchuk); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
