Lynn Patricia Thornton
1947-2022
Lynn Patricia Thornton of Mazerolle Settlement, NB passed away at her
home on August 16, 2022. She was born on March 4, 1947 in
Fredericton, NB, a daughter of the late John (Jack) MacFarlane and
Mary Evelyn (Bruce) MacFarlane.
She is survived by her husband David Thornton; her children, Amy
Whittaker (Kirk), Prince William, NB; a son Richard Thornton, New
Maryland, NB; two grandsons, Matthew Burgoyne, Victoria, BC, and
Thomas Whittaker, Prince William, NB; a sister Marjorie Novak of
Dominican Republic; two brothers Stephen MacFarlane and Robert
MacFarlane (Geri) both of Ontario; sisters-in-law Lynn MacFarlane,
Alberta, Judy Thornton, Waterville, NB and Mary Thornton, Fredericton,
NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Lynn was predeceased by a brother Dan
MacFarlane and three brothers-in-law, George Novak, Brian Thornton and
Donald Thornton.
Lynn was a true ambassador to New Brunswick, spending 34 years working
to promote Kings Landing and then another 20 years working for Members
of the Legislature of New Brunswick. She was deeply connected to the
people she met along the way and always gave a helping hand. She is a
past Grand Rebecca of Lodge 102, helping various charitable causes.
Her hands were never still, she created art by painting, needlework
and cake decorating amongst many other crafts. She was recognized
countless times with numerous awards over the years for her commitment
to New Brunswick and its peoples, including the Diamond Jubilee award
from Queen Elizabeth and the Richard B. Hatfield award.
Visiting hours will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church, 1991
Route 640, Hanwell, NB on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 6 to
9 pm and again on Monday, August 22, 2022 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral
service will be held at the church on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 3 pm
with Rev. Wendy MacWilliams officiating.
