Joe passed away on December 21,2022 at the age of 77. He was born on April 22,1945 in Lagoa, Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal. He was predeceased by his sister Evangelina. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Ana, his two children: Arthur (Shelley), Sonya (Shawn) and two granddaughters, Aliyah and Kylie, who were the light of his life.
Joe migrated to Canada at the age of 25 with his wife and son in December 1970 to join other members of the family and to start a new life in Victoria, BC.
Joe first started working at Bepco Paint, then a shingle making company until moving on to UVic where he put in 30 years of service in facilities until retiring in 2010.
Joe was an avid gardener and grew many different fruits and vegetables throughout the years. He used to make his own wine with grapes from his garden. He also had a love for music and soccer. Joe will be missed and remembered for his sense of humour, smile and infectious laugh.
If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together,
keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.
A Traditional Funeral will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Victoria, BC, on January 3, 2023, at 11:00 am.
