Joanne Maureen Schmidt (nee Garner)
Of Sundridge
Passed away surrounded by loved ones at the Algonquin Grace Hospice on Sunday, November 6, 2022, she was in her 79th year. Belove wife of the late Kenneth Schmidt. Cherished mother of Rick Schmidt, Michele Noon (Steve), Robert Schmidt (Kristy), Edward Schmidt and Lise Henderson (Cale). Proud grandmother of Richard, Shannon, Charles, Thora, Elora, Gavin and great-grandmother of Tanner, Rhylie, Sophie and Brody. Sadly missed by her brother John Garner (Pat) and predeceased by her sister Elisebeth. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Joanne was well known and very involved in the community being a Teacher at Almaguin Highland Secondary School for 35 years, volunteered with Girl Guides, Community Living, Children’s Aid, Zion United Church and so many more organizations. A memorial service will be held at Zion United Church on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place and internment will take place in the summer of 2023 at Strong Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or Algonquin Grace Hospice would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
