Jeremy Donald Joseph Hamelin a loving father devoted husband amazing son and one of the best father, son, brothers and friends anyone could ask for. With a smile that could light up a room. Jeremy had the biggest heart of gold, everyone knew how big his heart was, he would give you the shirt off his back & always spoke nothing but kindness and love. He brightened every room he entered. Jeremy‘s words and Love would not only help but inspire anyone around him to strive for a better life.
Jeremy worked so hard in every aspect of his life and became a Journeyman Red seal Power Lineman, with whom he shared a brotherhood with many of his fellow linemen. He loved to work on Powerline, he loved being able to support his family and teach other apprentices along the way. Every time we would drive by the many Powerline he built all over Alberta he was so proud to say he built it.
Jeremy could not wait to be a father, when his twins were born he had tears streaming from his face and cut both their cords. He loves them so much & will be their Golden Thunderbird flying in the heavens to watching over them forever. When not working or spending time with his family Jeremy enjoyed playing baseball and hockey whenever he could. He found his culture as a Cree man in 2016 and walked the red road the best he could & he learned everything he could due to not being brought up that way— from that moment forward he found his spirit & was given the Cree name Golden Thunderbird, he always believed culture was the cure. his children & his wife will ensure that his legacy of his heart & love of culture will be forever be endorsed & protected.
Jeremy has touched so many people on his path in life and will always be remembered and loved by every single one of us.
Jeremy was Born December 11, 1994, in McLennan, Alberta. Gone far too soon on November 5, 2022.
Jeremy is survived by his wife Paige Hamelin, their twins— his son and his daughter, Pierce and Pria Hamelin. His mother and father Georgette and Lance Hamlin. His sisters Kateri Hamelin (Lenae Lang-Okemow). His nephews, Denali Okemow, and sister Amber Hamelin. His godson Nahkoa Hamelin & goddaughter Charlie Saddleback. And so many uncles, aunties, cousins, nephews & nieces.
Traditional ceremony is to start Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hamelin residence 5006 43rd Ave. Close, Ponoka, Alberta T4J 1J6 (location subject to change).
Feast, Funeral & Burial will take place on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022 (location yet to be determined).
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the GoFundMe that was created by his workplace, Forbes Bros. for his children & wife Pria & Pierce, or any charitable donation can be made to any Male Indigenous mental health charity of your choice.
