SIVYER, Jean Dorothea (Flaherty)
Jean passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener. Born 95 years ago in Kitchener, Ontario, Jean was the daughter of the late James Austin and Violet (Winch) Flaherty.
Cherished and loving mother of Ted Sivyer and wife Shirley and Pam Hallman and husband Barry. Devoted grandmother of Laura (Victor Laytn), Scott Sivyer (Nicole), Kevin Hallman (Kim) and Chad Hallman (Liz). Proud great grandmother of Emmet and Alisha Latyn; Makenna and Maddison Sivyer. Jean will be missed by brother-in-law Ted and by the entire Sivyer family as well as by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased and reunited with her beloved husband Ted Sivyer who predeceased her in 1978, parents, siblings; Bob (Terry), Stan (Ginger), Marg (Clare) and Noreen.
Jean loved volunteering she devoted her time to Cub leader; Girl Guide Leader; Sunday School teacher; Life member of Royal Cdn. Legion = Br. 532 New Hamburg as well as the Ladies Auxiliary to the branch; Life member of the Legion Wednesday Seniors group; Elder of Livingston Presbyterian Church; Ladies Aid member at Livingston; PROUD veteran. She was with the Canadian Women’s Army Corp, Trained in Kitchener and station in London, Ontario. She and 3 other local CWAC veterans, were instrumental in erecting the statue at the East Avenue barracks (High Fusilliers)
Cremation has taken place and all are welcome to join the family for a time of memorial visitation at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 12 – 1 p.m. The memorial service to celebrate Jean’s life will follow in the chapel of the Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. With Linda Ashfield to officiate.
A private graveside will take place where Jean will be reunited with her beloved Ted.
As expressions of sympathy, donations will be accepted to the New Hamburg Legion Branch 532, Scholarship Fund or the St. Mary’s General Hospital and can be done through the funeral home.
