Obituary
Jaime Andres Cordoba Perez—Jimbo to family and friends—was a beloved partner, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born on November 10, 1960 to Johnny and Alicia Perez in Manila, Philippines. He attended La Salle Greenhills up to his junior year and graduated high school in San Jose, California.
Jimbo returned to Manila for college at the University of Santo Tomas, then the University of the Philippines, studying mass communications – majoring in journalism. He first worked as Philippine Airlines Ground Staff at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. After leaving in 1996, he started his own business, The Gardener, providing upscale landscaping and interior design for clients many of whom eventually became dear friends, keeping in touch long after projects were completed.
While Jimbo could certainly be defined by his discerning eye and boundless creativity, his true joy was caring for the love of his life, Paul Gordon, whom he met in 1986. They were together for 36 years and 7 months.
In 2009, Paul and Jimbo packed up their life (and their sweet miniature schnauzer puppy Mischka) to begin a new chapter in Toronto, Canada. They built a home, joined the parish of St Michael’s Cathedral Basilica, found work they enjoyed and continued to expand their circle of friends. Jimbo adapted surprisingly well to the cold weather. He loved cars and shopping, especially for shoes! He had unimpeachable taste and always had a lovingly honest opinion. His vivacity attracted everyone to him and he is dearly loved and missed by many, many friends and family.
He is survived by his beloved partner, Paul; his sisters Aya and Donna; and his brothers Dave and Jeepy, many nephews, nieces and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Alicia Perez née Cordoba, his brother Duke, and his sweet Mischka.
