It is with sorrow that we, the family of Herman Michael Kraus, announce his passing on Oct. 26,
2022. Herman was born on Jan 4, 1934 on the family farm near Wakaw, SK. He was a teacher in
Prince Albert and Wakaw for over 25 years while also operating a sizeable farming operation.
Herman also was an avid sportsman throughout his life, as a player, coach, referee, scout, and
spectator in both fastball and hockey. He went on to play hockey throughout the rest of his life,
retiring from the sport he so loved at age 85.
Herman was predeceased by his father (Ignace Kraus), mother (Annie Kraus), brothers Richard
(Adeline) and Ernest (Eden) Kraus, and most recently by his wife of 47 years, Patricia. He is
survived by his brother Arnold (Marge) Kraus, his 5 children: Cheryl (Matt) Hedlin and their
children Rae Anna, Alyssa and Jordan; Bruce (Colleen) and their children Allison, Brittany and
Kirsten; Daryl and his children Hannah and Lauren; Michelle (Fred) Pexa and their children Jeff,
Andrea, and Jeremy; and Kimberly and her children Curtis, Brandon, and Carly; as well as 12
great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to recognize the gracious and compassionate care in his final weeks by
the staff at Rosthern General Hospital. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12,
2022 at 11am in the Chapel of Kushneryk Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be
made to the Wakaw Jubilee Arena.
