Born in Green’s Harbour, Dad attended school through just Grade 7, but this didn’t stop his thirst for knowledge. He lovingly served the local area as a plumber, bus driver, and his unwavering commitment to the Green’s Harbour Corps of the Salvation Army. He also served as the Corps Sergeant Major (CSM) and had an active role in the church’s leadership. He was a self-taught gifted musician, singer and songwriter and passed his talents on to many. A cherished moment was when he and mom wrote a song on the occasion of Kenneth’s wedding, and performed it to the crowd. Dad was sought after to sing and play at countless events, including funerals.
Dad enjoyed woodworking, painting, and especially needlepoint. Dad and mom spent a lot of time creating quilts with hand-stitched or painted panels together.
A devoted Christian, husband and father, he will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to especially thank Lt. Janelle Colbourne, of the Green’s Harbour Salvation Army Corps. As well, Major Dr. Howse and the staff at the Carbonear General Hospital for their kindness and service, along with the staff and residents of Shag Rock Manor for their loving care these past few months.
Resting at the Salvation Army Citadel, Green’s Harbour with visitation on Monday, October 17, 3:00-5:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm and Tuesday, October 18, 10:00-11:30 am.
A service to celebrate Henry’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 18 at 2:00 pm with interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Green’s Harbour. Masks will be mandatory for both the visitation and the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Green’s Harbour Salvation Army Cemetery Fund.
