Betty Jean Kingston Haynes Monday September 26th 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, wife, grandmother, Betty Jean
Kingston (nee Haynes) on Monday, September 26, 2022.
Betty was born August 31, 1928 in Trenton, Ontario where she grew up living on the Trent
River, enjoying the water whether it be swimming, boating or skating. She graduated from
Kingston General Hospital (KGH) as a Registered Nurse in 1952, later that same year she met
her future husband, James Kingston, while he was a patient at KGH. She went on to work in
hospitals in Edmonton, and Sudbury. Marrying James in 1957, she gave up her nursing career to
start a family with the birth of their son Thomas while living in Kirkland Lake. Adding to their
family with the birth of son James in North Bay, daughter Victoria in Iroquois Falls, and son
Bradley in Port Arthur where she lived the remainder of her life raising her family. She was
active in Westminster United Church, assisting with Sunday school for some time. Spending
many hours volunteering at school activities, she was supportive of all activities and endeavours
her children, and later grandchildren, pursued. Betty’s talents were many, she was crafty with a
needle and thread sewing many costumes, outfits, and decor pieces; she was a wonderful cook
and baker, turning fresh picked berries into never to be forgotten pies. An avid reader, she had a
love for words. Her greatest joy was her family, she was a devoted wife, mother and
grandmother aka Grandy.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, James Kingston; beloved children, Thomas
Kingston (Heather), James Kingston, Victoria Ariganello (Tony), and Bradley Kingston
(Heather); cherished grandchildren Rhyan, Rebecca and Jonathan Ariganello, Dylan and Curtis
Kingston; also survived by her sister-in-law Marg Haynes, brother-in-law Ian Kingston, and

Haynes; sister Helen Down and brother-in-law Donald Down; nephews Marty and Donald
Down; sister-in-law Janet Smith; sister-in-law Dorothy Kingston; brother-in-law George
