Obituary
Zoya Andruff, age 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 13th, 2021 in Courtenay B.C., Canada. She was preceded by all of her brothers and sisters and her beloved husband Nick Andruff. Zoya, survived by her three loving children, Darlene Parker (Comox), Dan Andruff (Abbotsford) and Ron Andruff (Miami Beach), was warmly known as Guggy to her 12 grand, 11 great and 7 great great-grandchildren.
Dad knew mom from age five, so it is no surprise that “my Zoya” was how her devoted husband referred to her, over their lifetime of memories and 57 years of marriage. Having both been born and raised on farms in Northern Alberta (Fairview and Gage), Zoya moved to Port Alberni on Vancouver Island with Nick and their young family in 1951, eventually settling in Chemainus.
One of the many highlights of their life together was purchasing The Tahitian; later renamed The Promise when they repurposed the unique, fine-dining Polynesian restaurant to become an alcohol-free, family-oriented environment. In the later part of their lives, Zoya and Nick crisscrossed Canada twice, traveled to all 50 of the United States and 26 other countries – all with a purpose, building orphanages, housing, schools, and churches, or feeding and clothing the needy. Zoya’s was a life of service to the Lord Jesus Christ and all His children. Her philosophy was evident in everything she did. Her integrity, honesty, and hard work have indelibly marked the time she blessed us all with her presence.
Zoya lived her life in Christ. And she died quietly in Christ. Although she is sorely missed by all of her family, and the many friends from around the world, we take great joy in the fact that “our Zoya”, after an 18 year separation, is happily reunited in the Lord with our patriarch, Nick.
The family will be holding a private ceremony.
