Death notice
Lord William (Bill) Bruce Guthrie passed away on July 28, 2021. He was born in Toronto on October 15, 1948 to Bruce Fisk Guthrie and Betty Jean Guthrie (Fleming). He attended Wilfrid Laurier University where many lifelong friendships began. He joined his father’s Insurance Brokerage and retired as sole proprietor of his own firm in 2010 to enjoy life on Georgian Bay with his wife Susan.
He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed the companionship of his friends on hunting & fishing trips and he was an excellent cabinetmaker and woodworker. His zest for life and kind heart endeared him to many.
Dearly beloved husband of Susan Guthrie, loving father to Sarah Kathleen Guthrie and Andrew Craig Guthrie, and proud Grandfather of Tevin Jacob Guthrie. He will be missed by his brother Don Guthrie (Donna), his sister Jane Ward (Ian), and fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Special mention to his friends Bob & Francine, Joe & Genya.
In accordance with his wishes, William has been cremated. There will not be a funeral service.
To live in this world you must be able to do three things:
to love what is mortal;
to hold it against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go.
