William Bill M Murray 19482021

William «Bill» M Murray
1948-2021
William «Bill» MacLean Murray of Riverview passed
away peacefully on September 14, 2021. As the only child of the late
Shirley (MacLean) and Cecil Murray, his cousins Greg and Banks were
like brothers, and his early years with them in North Sydney, NS and
later in air cadets were filled with fights and shenanigans. He moved
to Riverview in 1964 and it was here that he found his love for plaid
shirts.
Bill was employed with CKCW-CTV for 28 years and though he
hated shift work, he enjoyed being able to have lunch with his girls
or catch one of their various sports games. He loved making bad jokes
and telling overly detailed stories, which served him well after
retirement when he worked at Lounsbury’s and Atlantic
Superstores. He believed in standing up for the underdog and he was a
Big Brother for a time.
Bill loved sports, especially fishing, hockey and baseball.
He played in the original Slo Pitch Baseball league in Moncton in the
1970’s and when his chicken legs started to give out, was a
big part of the new seniors’ league. A tragic fan of both
the Toronto Blue Jays and the Detroit Red Wings, he was dedicated but
often disappointed. Bill loved being outdoors with his
buddy, Hudson and was happiest with a coffee and some fudge, getting
lost on a back road in Albert County, only to realize he knew exactly
where he was.
Bill’s smile brightened the days of the people who met him.
Bill once said that a good life was one filled with family, so his was
a good life, as he was adored by his daughters Nancy Fowler of
Riverview and Patricia Anderson of Montreal and his granddaughters,
Laura and Katie Fowler, and Mathilda and Stella
Anderson.
He will be deeply missed by his daughters, their husbands
Jason Fowler and Scott Anderson and their families, his former wife
Sue Murray and his sisters-in-law, his cousins and friends. He was
enormously grateful to his best friend Terry Gautreau for 45 years of
laughs and adventures and for his endless caring and
support.
Bill and his family would like to thank the staff at the
Moncton Hospital and Albert House for their wonderful care and company
in his final days. Final arrangements have been entrusted to
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd,
Riverview (506-869-2007). Online condolences may be expressed at
www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
Bill hated a fuss so there will be no service.
Instead, please join his family and friends to raise a glass in
celebration of his life on Sunday, October 10 at 2:00pm at the Chris
Rock Tavern. Come in your favourite plaid.
