It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda Ann Young (46 years) after a 16-year-long battle with cancer. Wanda is survived by her soulmate Denis Tourigny, who never left her side; her father Dean Young, mother Maxine Young (Mount) predeceased; stepmother Denise Bortolotto; and her “sister blister” Angie Young and Dan Beatty. Wanda was Autie to Venessa Armstrong, James Beatty, and great auntie to “the apple of her eye”, Sterling Dean Armstrong. Sadly missed by her grandparents Ann and Dennis Mount, Myrna Young, and Cyril Young predeceased.
Wanda’s greatest strength was her ability to never give up on life, and her greatest love by far was family. Wanda loved to travel to many different places with her traveling partner, Laurie Yorke. Wanda’s favourite road trips were to Sault Ste Marie to visit all her relatives, whom she loved dearly.
To Dr. Bowen and all the staff on the 7th floor at the hospital, words can never express our gratitude for the care you gave to Wanda. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
Wanda’s native given name was “Blue Sky Woman”; there was not a cloud in the sky when Wanda passed away. “Wanda, we miss you already, but know that one day, we will all be together.”
A private family service will be held in the Lougheed Funeral Home, Hanmer/Capreol Chapel. (No public visitation). Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium with interment in the family plot at the Valley East Cemetery. For donations and messages of condolence, www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
