Vincent Owen Strong
1928-2021
Vincent Owen Strong, 93, of Forest Dale Home and formerly
of Pine Glen passed away peacefully on December 29th, 2021 at the
home.
Vincent was born in Nova Scotia on March 27, 1928 the son
of the late Percy and Audrey (Berry)
Strong.
He was a hard worker and worked at several jobs over the
years. He worked as a mechanic at Lounsburys, was
a truck driver, Freightliner being his favorite. He was a
talented carpenter and built several houses in Albert County
having retired from C & C Construction. He
loved going for drives, taking in the scenery of beautiful Albert
County and continued to do so into his 90’s. He was
a very devoted husband to his common-law wife of 57 years,
Marion. When he and Marion got together they joined families
and he loved all his extended family, always being there when
needed. When Marion had to go to Forest Dale Home he made
daily visits to her, never missing a day. After Marion
passed he volunteered at the Home and still went almost everyday, to
help make sure everyone was okay and he would get a smile out of all
the residents and genuinely cared for each and everyone of
them wholeheartedly. When Vincent finally had to go to the
home at the age of 92 he felt like he was already home with all the
friends he made over the years of his dedication.
Vincent will be remembered for his kindness and for his
great smile. He was one of a kind and his caring nature will
be missed by all who knew him. Vinent will be fondly
remembered.
He will be sadly missed by his brother Gerald
Strong of NS; step -son, George Steeves of Dawson Settlement; special
grandchildren, Debbie Turner (Simon) of Ontario, Greg Steeves (Wendy)
of Ontario and Cathy Steeves (Mitchell) of Colpitts Settlement. He
will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, extended family and
many friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife,
Marion; sister, Jeanetta Elderkin; brothers, Royce, Leonard, Kenneth,
George and Eldon; step-daughter-in-law, Margaret
Steeves.
Honoring Vincent’s own wishes there will be no
visitation. A Graveside Service will be held in the Hopewell
Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB on Friday, January 7th, 2022 at
3:00pm. Due to Covid social distancing will be required and
masks must be worn.
For those who wish donations to the Forest Dale Home
Foundation (Activity Department) would be greatly
appreciated.
