Thelma’s Obituary
Nicholson, Thelma Dianne – Age 73 of West Tatamagouche. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thelma Nicholson on July 30, 2021. Thelma passed away exactly as she requested – peacefully, at home and surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Pembroke, Hants Co., she was the daughter of the late Emery Bruce Taylor and Phyllis Mae (Burgess) Taylor. First, foremost, and forever Thelma was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her most important achievement in life was her happy marriage and her 3 beautiful children who ensured her family continued to grow and carry on her legacy. Mom was most happy during family gatherings where “the more the merrier” was always her motto. Her door was always open, the tea pot was always on, and another plate would be added to the table. Mom loved to dance, sing karaoke, play cards, camping, 4 wheeling, cooking, baking and watching game shows & “her stories.” Her most favorite things were her flip flops, slippers, Skip Bo cards and she loved sitting in her screen room watching the hummingbirds and admiring her flowers. Thelma was married to the love of her life, Cyril, for 42 years. She was devastated from his sudden passing but eventually found happiness again when Robert came into her life. We really loved seeing mom enjoying life and happy again during her final years. Mom and her best friend Wanda spent many years laughing, playing cards, cooking, baking, and going to bingo. Wanda was a great comfort to mom during the last few months. We take comfort in knowing that mom is with dad again and they are dancing in heaven. Please give dad a kiss and hug and tell him we love him and miss him. Surviving are, her partner, Robert O’Brien; her children, David (Carolyn), Ship Harbour; Diane (Brian) Campbell, West Tatamagouche; Dennis (Tanya), Cole Harbour; grandchildren, Corey (Katie), Kayla (Barry), Kyle (Kylah), Ryan (Rachelle), Kaila (Joel), Amanda (Eric), Christopher (Kyla), Adam (Kim), Troy (Sharon), Trevor and Ashley; great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Carleigh, Coleton, Sadie, Kaylin, Kesley, Rylan, Charlie, Sonny, Jordyn, Brooklyn, Alexis, Emma, Lily, Bella, Lennon, Eric, Dylan, River, Sophia, Russell and Teona; brothers, Barney (Lisa), Glenn (Glenda) and Stephen (Ellen); sister-in-law, Kathy. She was predeceased by her husband, Cyril Donald Nicholson; brother, Darrell; sisters, Patsy and two in infancy. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, August 3rd and 1 p.m. until time of funeral at 2 p.m., in Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche with live streaming of the service starting at 1:55 p.m. Due to restrictions, seating is limited with preference to family. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers donations can be made the Lillian Fraser Hospital Foundation for Palliative Care.
