Stephen James van Eyk, 48, passed away unexpectedly on Monday February 8th after a long and courageous battle with illness.
Beloved son, brother, husband, uncle, nephew and friend to many, this free spirit, adventurer, and outdoor enthusiast was loved and respected by everyone he met. His enthusiasm and positive spirit was an inspiration to those around him.
Despite his battles with health, he was a cheerful and wonderful host to the end. Family members who visited him and Violeta, his wife, soulmate, and rock, all returned with stories of their generosity and crazy fun. To the end, Stephen was inquisitive and firmly believed in the importance of life-long learning, always searching for new knowledge in all kinds of pursuits. He will be sadly missed by all, but he parted this world leaving nothing on the table.
He climbed mountains in several countries and never met a back-country ski slope that he didn’t love. In lieu of flowers and as a living legacy to Stephen, please make it a priority to sign your organ donor card today.
