It is with heavy hearts the family announces the death of Shirley Ann McMillan on Wednesday, June 16th, at the Brockville General Hospital Palliative care, after a short battle with Cancer. Shirley passed peacefully with son Allan and life long friend Marlene Greenhalgh by her side. Shirley is predeceased by husband (of 53.5yrs) Bruce and son Stephen. Survived by loving son Allan, Grandchildren Nicholas and Ryan and her daughter in law Samantha; foster brothers and sisters, Wayne, Stewart, Connie, Rosemary, and Gale.
Adored by many Shirley, wishes to acknowledge the lifelong friendship of Ralph and Marlene Greenhalgh. Shirley was Godmother to Christopher Greenhalgh. She took great joy from Ralph and Marleen’s children Jennifer and Christopher and their families, Jourdana, daughter of Jennifer and Angus son of Christopher and Taye.
Shirley worked at Microtel for 30yrs before taking early retirement. Once retired Shirley enjoyed time with her husband Bruce, exploring the river, and many of the scenic areas in our county and province. Shirley was involved with her community and enjoyed her many years with the Brockville Lioness Club, and General Hospital volunteer association. Shirley was always active and enjoyed walking in her beloved neighbourhood. Shirley put her love of knitting to good use during the pandemic, knitting over40 blankets for the Centennial Church of Brockville.
Allan wishes to thank the Brockville General Hospital, Palliative care and everyone who offered love and support to my mother, and myself. Rest easy Mom your laughter and compassion and sweet nature will be in our hearts forever. The Kraft peanut butter bears will always be facing out!
Family and friends are invited to the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James St., E. on Monday, June 21 from 3-5 pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 am in the chapel.
