Sheila ANN Bastarache
1943-2021
Ann Bastarache of Harvey, York Co., NB passed away on June 26, 2021 at
Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born
Sheila Ann LeGassie in Fredericton, NB, she was a daughter of Leo
Joseph LeGassie and Barbara Marie Roussel of Rothesay, NB.
Ann worked for many years at the Harriet Irving Library at University
of New Brunswick, until moving to Harvey, where she enjoyed working at
the Harvey Community Library. She was a longtime member of the
Southampton Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary, a member of the Laubach
Literacy of Canada and a member of the Christian Community Church in
Toronto, ON. Ann had a great interest in family genealogy and will be
greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul Joseph Bastarache; a
daughter Brenda Lynn Weeks, Newburg, NB; a son, Michael Wayne
Bastarache, Harvey, NB; two grandchildren, Kristen Lynn Chatterton,
Lincoln, NB and Alex C. Chatterton, Halifax, NS; four great
grandchildren; a sister, Linda Friars (Len), Baxter’s Corner,
NB; a brother, Gary Von LeGassie (Elizabeth), Halifax, NS; several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Gerry
LeGassie.
Honoring Ann’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral
service. Interment will be later at Cherry Mountain Cemetery, Harvey
Station, NB.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Ann, the family has
suggested a charity of the donor’s choice.
