MOFFATT: Sharon
May 15, 1947 – September 19, 2021
It is with a mixture of sadness and gratitude that we announce the passing of Sharon Ann Moffatt (nee Geib), age 74, on September 19, 2021. She tackled cancer in her own unique and fierce way. She passed with loved ones at her side, peacefully and in little pain, for which we are grateful.
Sharon is predeceased by her father Zach, brothers Eldon and Vernon, and nephew Stephen. Those who survive her are many, including her husband of 50 years (Chris) two beautiful daughters (Lauren and Sarah), five sisters and one brother, one sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law, 15 nieces and nephews and 27 great-nieces and nephews. She extended her definition of family to yet others, including her ‘bestest best friend forever’ Joanne, and her musical partner-in-crime, Janet.
Music wasn’t just a part of her life, it was truly the fabric of who she was and she (along with her siblings and all of her musical partners over the years) touched hundreds of thousands of people with her singing. We take comfort in knowing that all who loved her will hear her singing in their hearts and minds whenever they think of her, and be better for it.
As per her wishes, no formal funeral will be held. We hope that you will honour her memory in whatever way feels best. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Watrous Community Health Foundation. The nurses and staff there showed her every compassion, and served her at their highest level of care and we are grateful.
