It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sengdao (Dao) Vongphachanh on the afternoon of Thursday, December 23, 2021 at the young age of 51 years old. After a long courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer, he is now fishing in the best fishing hole in heaven.
He leaves behind his treasured wife, Vilamonh Vongphakdy; his older sister Phetmany (Long) Vongphachanh; his nephew Tony (Olivia) Vongphachanh; his nieces Kelly Vongphachanh and Wendee Vongphachanh.
Sengdao was the most loving father to Vilamonh’s children Dolly (Sam) Vonphakdy and Kasey Vongphakdy and fun-loving Grandpa to Kaison. His loss is greatly felt by his large extended family and friends.
After spending the early part of his life in Laos, he started a new life in Canada working as a welder over the past 41 years. Dao was a devoted fishman in sunny, rainy or winter weathers. Nothing could stop him when “the fish is on”….aka yet we have never seen a fish he has caught. If you don’t find him out fishing then you can either find him in the kitchen cooking away or showing off those groovy dance moves on the dance floor, especially when the “shape of you comes on” by Ed Sheeran. Dao was a very kind and thoughtful person he was always willing to lend a helpful hand to anyone when he could. One of Dao’s favourite pastime is watching a good UFC fight either with friends or just his wife. He had a knack for making everyone feel welcome.
Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021 between 4:00pm to 8:00pm, with the Buddhist ceremony commencing between 5:00pm to 6:00pm. A memorial service to be held on Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 at 9:00am. To attend, please RSVP at www.erbgood.com or by calling 519-745-8445.
