SURETTE, Sandra Marie, passed away on August 2, 2021. Born on November 13, 1967, she was the loving daughter of the late Frances (DeViller) and J. Donald Surette of Comeau’s Hill, NS. She was a sister to Pauline (David “Midge”) Rodgerson, Overton; Carolyn (Gerry) Newell, Onslow; Brad (Linda) Surette, Little River Harbour; Elaine (Franklyn) O’Connell, Canaan; Allan (Judy) Surette, Surette’s Island; Patty (Norbert) Comeau, Middle West Pubnico. She was pre-deceased by sister Janice Leslie Quesnel, BC. Sandra leaves behind many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Sandra never forgot a name; she was determined, mischievous, affectionate, quick to react, and loved to giggle and sing. She loved Doritos, and home-cooked meals, family gatherings, going to camp and receiving presents. Sandra could make you laugh and make you cry. Sandra had many struggles along the way yet she persevered. She was never shy to say “I like you” or “You gotta go home now.”
Sandra had many places she called home and was loved by many. The family would like to thank the staff of NSCTC in Digby, NSYTC in Truro and the Barrington Group Home (SASI), where she blossomed and found her voice and lastly, KRCC, where her caregivers became family, loving and caring for her until the end. A special thanks to all who loved and cared and advocated for Sandra; your kindness, love and compassion will not be forgotten.
Sandra’s final resting place will be in the St Gabriel’s Parish Cemetery, Comeau’s Hill, alongside her parents. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Home Yarmouth.
