Samir Sabbagh
Samir (Sam) Sabbagh was born to Georges Sabbagh and Josephine Chidiac on March 3rd, 1949. He is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife – Thérèse Bichara Sabbagh, his sister – Marie B. Sabbagh (widow of Farid Safi), his three children – Vincent (Erin), Valerie (Paolo), Alexandre (Ilana), and his grandchildren – Makayla & Melina Sabbagh, Matteo, Niko & Rocco Romeo, and Shai & Ness Sabbagh. Samir passed away on May 6th, 2021 due to complications linked to being in the ICU.
Samir was a mechanical engineering student who graduated from McGill with honours. Before attaining this level of education, he endured hardships while growing up in Egypt and at 19 years old, immigrated to Canada and began shaping his future. He had spent 30 years of his life building a legacy that is proudly taken over by his three children. Above all, Sam was a lover of life; he thoroughly enjoyed playing tennis, driving his motorcycle, and staying healthy. It was obvious that he found his biggest pride in his grandchildren and relished each moment spent with them. Sam loved life so much that he would find ways to provide whenever he had the opportunity: whether it was by helping family members, supporting his employees or donating blood, he was a giver who never expected anything in return.
He leaves a void in our family that is survived by the incredible memories and moments spent with him. Our father was a unique individual, unmatched in his generosity and kindness. He was intelligent, driven, willful, perseverant, kind, and loving, to say the least. He has taught us how to love, how to live, how to be caregivers, and how to face the various adversities that we are faced with in life. His memory will be preserved through his teachings and wisdom, and he will always remain in our hearts and in our thoughts.
Due to the current circumstances, a private viewing will take place on Monday May 17, 2021 from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Urgel Bourgie/ Athos (3955 Chemin de Côte-de-Liesse St-Laurent H4N 2N6), followed by a private mass on Tuesday May 18, at Saint-Laurent Church for 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Héma Quebec can be made in Sam`s memory.
