Sally Ross (nee Matthews) (May 14th, 1957 – July 24, 2021)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sally Elizabeth Ross. Surrounded by family, at the age of 64, Sally passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of July 24th. Sally fought a courageous second battle with cancer and although we are devasted with her loss, we are happy that she is now at peace.
Born in Dunnington, England in 1957, Sally emigrated with her family to Montreal in 1968. Sally was a talented piano player who had a great love for music and the arts. In addition to her love of dogs, Sally grew up horseback riding in England and Canada.
Predeceased by her parents John (Jack) and Gladys Mary Matthews, Sally leaves behind her two cherished sons, Michael (Laura) and Robert, her brother Robert (Debra) and her nieces Tara (Rich) and Holly (Kevin). Granny will be greatly missed by her two beloved granddaughters, Lucy and Madelyn.
Sally will also be missed by her relatives in England and the many friends made throughout her work in association management at both the Mechanical Contractors Association of Hamilton and most recently the Ontario Golf Superintendents Association.
Celebration of Sally’s Life will be held on Thursday July 29th, 2021 from 3:00 pm -6:00 pm at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre 21 First St. Orangeville.
In lieu of flowers, and in honour of Sally’s love for dogs, the family asks that donations in memory be made to the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.
A tree will be planted in memory of Sally in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.
