It is with great sadness that the family of Rosalie «Joan» Parsons, 63, of Rose Bay, announce her passing at home on Friday, May 21, 2021.
Born in Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late James and Rosanna (Osmond) Carter.
Joan, Little Joan or Joanie was known to be a hard and dedicated worker. She held a variety of jobs, but spent the last 21 years at Stelia North America in Lunenburg. She made many long-lasting friendships at Stelia, and will be dearly missed by her coworkers.
She was known to be small but mighty. She had a tough exterior and a heart of gold. She was a proud mother and doting grandmother. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home with family and friends, a good cup of tea or yelling at the tv when the Montreal Canadiens were playing. She loved to sew and gifted many a rag quilt to those she cared about. Although she swore she’d never get a dog, she cherished her beloved fur baby Sophie. She enjoyed searching for sea glass and never tired of the beautiful sunset views at her home in Rose Bay.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Janet (Jason) Craig, Lower Sackville; sons, Josh Parsons (Ashleigh Holman), New Germany, Elliott Ritcey, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Phoenix, Flora, Charlie, Sam and Rosie; sisters, Carolann (Bob) Blough, Keswick, Ont., Judy (Ken) Savoury, Port aux Basques, NF; Linda (John) Bleakney, Dartmouth; brothers, Mike (Tasha) Carter, Dartmouth, James (Doris) Carter, Dartmouth, Garry (Laverne) Carter, Port aux Basques, NF; sisters-in-law, Deloras Carter and Vina Carter both of Port aux Basques, NF. and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Kevin Carter and Melvin Carter.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
