Ronald Coates
1935-2021
Ronald James Coates of Coverdale, NB passed away peacefully
at home on November 14, 2021 after a courageous battle with
cancer.
Predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara (Kitchen) Coates
earlier this year, parents, Leslie and Velma (Geddes) Coates and
sister Elva, Ron is survived by his children Terry (Patti), Peter, and
Todd (Holly); grandchildren and great-grandchildren Tera, Jenna,
Dakota, Charley, Daxton, Madison, Jace, Ellie, and Westley; and
siblings John, Ruth, Gerry, and Laurence.
Born in Kent County, NB in 1935, Ron spent his early years on
the family farm in Coates Mills and later the farm in
Coverdale. While he continued to farm part-time until his
retirement, Ron was a welder by trade with 30+ proud years at Apex
Machine Works.
Ron had many interests over the years – hockey, bowling,
camping on Deer Island – but there was nothing he loved more than to
have his grandkids curl up with him in a comfy chair. And if
they too had a sweet tooth and would join with him in enjoying that
extra cookie, so much the better.
Witty, kind-hearted, and generous, he will be deeply missed
by his family and the many friends and neighbours who came to know him
over the years.
A graveside service for Ron will take place at 12:30pm on
Saturday, November 20th at the Wesleyan Union Cemetery in
Coverdale. His arrangements have been entrusted to
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center 330 Whitepine Rd.,
