Obituary
Robert C. G. Munro was born in Hamilton Ontario August 6, 1944, and passed away in Calgary, Alberta on December 19, 2021, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Rob was the second child of John Munro and Jean Munro (nee Wilkinson) of Hamilton, Ontario where Rob was raised.
Rob was a loving father and husband. He was a model of integrity, both in his career and personal life. Rob had a very successful professional life, travelling to the far corners of the world on behalf of Ontario and Alberta mining and resource industries. Physically fit almost to the end, Rob was still working out at his favorite gym and cycling in his mid-seventies when he also achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a certified personal trainer.
His sons, Tristan and Tyler remember him as their “MacGyver”, a father who was always willing to help them with their many projects. He was playful with them and shared their adventures – fishing, skiing, boating, and many happy times in Muskoka Lake of Bays. Rob was a wonderful Dad who always encouraged his sons to actively pursue their dreams.
His recent trip to see his family in Muskoka in the fall of 2021 was his last visit back to his home province. With his sons and their families, Rob shared one last boat ride, campfire, and sunsets on the beach.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bernadette Taylor-Hill of Calgary, Alberta; his eldest son, Tristan Munro, and his wife Marianna and their four children; Addison, Nathaniel, Emmie, and Milana of Innisfil, Ontario; and his son Tyler Munro and his wife, Crystal Khalek, from Hamilton, Ontario. Rob is also survived by his older brother, Iain Munro, and his wife Viviane of Kingston, Ontario; and his younger sister, Christine Langsford of Parry Sound, Ontario. Also deeply missing their Uncle Rob are his many nephews and nieces and their families: Heather Langsford of Parry Sound, Ontario, Kyla Munro of Kingston, Ontario, Adrienne Munro and her son Logan of Toronto, Ontario, Matthew Langsford and his wife Carla of Burlington, Ontario and their children Ella and Drew, and Michael Langsford and his wife Lisa of Ottawa, Ontario and their children, Spencer, and Alec.
Rob was loved and admired by everyone who was privileged to know him. He will be remembered with much love and greatly missed by us all.
