Rene Joseph Legere 19322021

It is with great sadness that
we announce the passing of Rene Legere on May 30, 2021, at Paradise
Villa. Rene was born on April 19, 1932, in Rogersville, the oldest son
of Ovile and Alfreda (Leger) Legere. He was married to Leona
(Gallant) Legere who predeceased him on November 1,
2019.
Rene moved to Toronto in the
1950’s where he met Leona. They moved back to
Fredericton in 1973 where he established R. Legere & Sons oil
burner service, which he ran until retirement. Rene easily
made many friends but spent much of his spare time with family in
Lincoln. Rene loved going for long drives with Leona,
playing crib, fishing, and hunting in the Grand John with his
brothers.
Rene was the proud father of
four boys, Greg (Dinah), Wayne (Karen), Brian (deceased) and
Alan. He is survived by three grandchildren, Kevin (Amanda),
Justin and Kelsie and one great-granddaughter, Juniper. He leaves
behind sisters and brothers: Donny (Sue), Dianne, Doreen (Jerry),
Alfred (Ellen), Jeanette, Louise (Carson), Donna (Lloyd) and Danny
(Karen); sisters-in-law Elda Longphee, Stella Caissie and Bertine
Vieneau; special friend Peter Tucker and many nieces and nephews,
cousins and extended family and
friends.
Rene was predeceased by his
parents, wife Leona, son Brian, brothers Art and Ivan, infant sister
Dorine, brothers-in-law Johnny Scholten and Eddie
Longphee.
A private family service
will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road
Fredericton on Friday June 4th, 2021, at 11AM
with Father Monte Peters officiating. Due to COVID limitations,
attendance in person will be limited to immediate family and a live
streaming of the service will be available for all at
Bishop’s Funeral Home’s website www.bishopsfuneralhome.com.
Interment to follow in the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic
Cemetery.
The family would like to thank
Dr. Lauren Wiley for her outstanding care of both Rene and Leona over
the past several years. The staff at Paradise Villa have
been wonderful, caring and assuring, especially during these difficult
COVID times. As well, our thanks to the Extramural staff and
Palliative Care team for their quick attention in making
Rene’s last few weeks
comfortable.
In lieu of flowers donations
for the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick, St. Francis of Assisi
Cemetery Fund, Canadian Cancer Society (NB) or charity of
donor’s choice will be appreciated. The
