Raymond’s Obituary
Leaving us to become another guardian angel, we the family, sadly announce the passing of our much beloved brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and friend to many, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, Raymond “Raymie” John Hayward, of St. Vincent’s, St. Mary’s Bay, NL, aged 67 years.
Predeceased by his loving parents Joe & Lucy (nee Gibbons), infant sister Rose Marie, dear friends: Irene Power, Valentine Stamp, Wayne (Frankie) Gibbons and Darrell Stamp (August 23), as well as many other relatives and friends of the Hayward and Gibbons Families.
Left to mourn and cherish his memory brothers: Des (Ann), Don (Daphne) and Garry (Dana); nieces and nephews: Curtis (Brittany, Brayden and Rory), Vanessa (Daniel, Lucy and Darcy), D.J. (Kayla), Alexa (Jonathan), Tiffany (Stephen) and Rebekka (Adam), all of whom “Uncle Raymie” adored beyond words; his best “buddies”: Hilary Halleran, Aloysius Hayward, Andy Hayward and Nick Halleran, his devoted caregiver Pam Gibbons and the many other friends and acquaintances he made throughout his life – We’ll all miss him dearly.
Special mention and thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of 7 East, St. Clare’s for the compassionate care they administered to Raymie during his brief stay and to Gibbons’ Ambulance and funeral service, our sincere gratitude for their professionalism during this difficult time – You are all angels among us.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Adhering to COVID-19 protocol and regulations, visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church, St. Vincent’s, on Friday, September 3, from 2 – 4pm; 6 – 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, September 4, at 10am. Following Mass Raymie will be reunited with his mother and father in their plot at the cemetery in St. Vincent’s.
