Philip James Theriault

It is with profound sadness we regret to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Philip James Theriault of Alder Point, aged 77, on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Alder Point on May 6, 1943, he was the son of the late Wilbert and Evelyn (LeBlanc) Theriault.
Philip was known as a hard worker, starting on the Great Lake boats at a very early age and in the construction industry, LIUNA Local 1115, on many big projects in Cape Breton for decades after.
He is survived and ever remembered by his loving wife and best friend of more than 60 years, Bernadette (Marsh); his four diamonds, daughters JoAnne Cass (Larry), Halifax, Karen, Halifax, Leah, Thunder Bay, and Mya Theriault-Green (Shawn), Sydney. Philip is also survived by his grandchildren Philip and James Cass, Halifax and Abby and Paige Green, Sydney, all of whom he was immensely proud and spoke of at every chance given. He is also survived by sisters Helene Devoe, Alder Point, Margaret Cantwell (Edgar), Bras d’Or, Millie Erickson, Alder Point, his brother Freeman (Elizabeth), Sydney Mines and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Philip was predeceased by brothers, Wilfred, Leonard and Lawrence (infant), as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
The family will be ever grateful for the «Angels» of Palliative Care, doctors and nurses at the Cancer Centre of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their compassionate care of Philip and support for the family during his illness. Special thanks to his Quarterback, Dr. Eugene Ignacio, his go-to nephew and friend Ronnie Fraser, as well as his long-time buddy Raymond Marsh and godchild James Marsh for his help and assistance. To all of those who provided words of comfort, cards, food or assistance in any way during this difficult time, we are forever grateful.
As per Philip’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral Mass and interment will take place at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
