Patrick Riggins- Patrick was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on September 18, 1967. He died suddenly on December 16, 2021 after having a procedure for a heart attack. He is preceded in death by his father, Bill Newell Riggins, M.D., Grandfather, Newell Grady Riggins, M.D., Grandmother, Alma Riggins, Grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hillsman.
Patrick had a heart for the hungry and those who were homebound. He was President of the Love Kitchen and had volunteered there for twenty years. He was a graduate of Webb School, attended UT – Knoxville, was an Eagle Scout, volunteered as a Knoxville Police Department reserve officer and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. He was recognized by KPD as reserve officer of the year. Patrick had a private pilot’s license, was a certified open water scuba diver, and a HAM operator with an extra class license. He had a radio show on WOKI once a week as well as sitting in for Bob Yarbrough, Phil Williams and Hallerin Hill.
He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church.
Survivors include Mother, Patrica Ressler Riggins; brothers, Grady (Becca) and Martin both of Knoxville. Sister, Rebecca (Justin) Ault of New Market. Niece, Laura Ault. Nephews: Nathan Ault, Jacob Ault, of New Market and Aaron (Allie) Ault of Morristown. Spencer Riggins, Matthew Riggins, Joshua Riggins (Knoxville) and Hunter Riggins of Mississippi. Drake (Cheyenne) Parker of Knoxville and Dylan (Abby) Parker of Memphis. Aunts: Joanne (Dr. Jay) Mounger, Knoxville; and Elizabeth Vernon, Bartlett, Cousins: Daniel Mounger, Stephen (Bridget) Mounger and John Mounger all of Knoxville. Allen Riggins of Bartlett and Mary Honey of Memphis. Julia Tucker and Dr. Judy Roy of Knoxville.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at Bridges Funeral Home and the graveside service will be at 10.00 a.m on Thursday at the Macedonia Cemetery with Rev. Steve Hancock officiating.
