Obituary for Patience Hilda Fockler
June 4, 1924 – November 12, 2021
Patience Hilda Fockler passed away peacefully on Friday November 12th, 2021 in North Vancouver. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Wesley Fockler. She will be deeply missed by all of her family: Don and Diane (Jennifer, Erick, Emma, Alec, and Josie), Ed and Sylvia, John and Sue (Steve, Mick, and Brad), Trisha and Ross Beaty (Carolynn, John, Heather, Shannon, and Fiona), Louise and Mike Bradford (Anna, Kirsten and Frances).
Pat led a rich and varied life. She was born in West Ham, Es, and immigrated to Canada as a young girl. She grew up in North Vancouver where she excelled in academics, enjoyed the outdoors, and developed a strong sense of community. Her inquisitive and scientific mind drew her to a career in pharmaceutical sciences. She was a caring and dedicated employee at MacDonald’s and Laurel Prescriptions while balancing her life as a homemaker and mother of five. Pat was generous and present with her time, thoughtful but direct with her words, and clear in her values and priorities, of which family was foremost. She leaves behind an incredible legacy of sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. The Sunshine Coast was always a special place for her, with many treasured moments spent along the shore with Edwin, friends, and family.
We will all remember her for her great capacity to share life’s joys and walk through its challenges with grace. We will miss her quiet, considerate and contemplative nature. She lived an amazing, full and meaningful life, building connections to her community with her characteristic calm personality.
We would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Amica Edgemont for making Pat’s final years enriching and enjoyable. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat’s memory to the Salvation Army, one of her many valued charities. Condolences may be submitted on the bottom of this page.
