Paolo’s Obituary
Peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on Saturday, December 4th at the age of 98. Paolo is survived by his loving wife Pina, devoted children Franca (Greg O’Brien) and Paul, and step-grandchildren Case and Brenna. Everyone loved this charmer, including his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss Zio Paolo, that passionate storyteller with the commanding voice. Sporting his favourite sweater vest and Azzurri jacket, with never a hair out of place, he was always camera-ready. Paolo spent eight years at Villa Italia Retirement Residence and his family would like to sincerely thank the caring staff there who took such good care of him. They were quick to respond to his every need, including his daily cappuccinos. We also want to thank the nurses with St. Joseph’s Home Health Care, especially the wonderful Joanne, the numerous personal service workers who cared for him like he was a family member, and the excellent staff at St. Peter’s. After a long naval career, Paolo came to Canada in 1963 to marry his beloved Pina and worked for many years at Pollard Windows. He loved his family, the staff at Villa Italia, playing pool, cards, tending the garden, and anything related to Italian football – especially Reggina, his home club in his native Calabria. The family welcomes your prayers and good wishes. A private service has already been held. He will be missed.
