Obituary
Herimina (Minie) Stuivenberg Witvoet was born January 27, 1936 in Enschede, Netherlands and passed away March 14, 2021 at the age of 85 years.
She immigrated with her family to Coaldale, Alberta in 1952. Several years later they moved to Medicine Hat where she began work at the Dominion Glass Factory. In 1957, the love of her life, Jerry, also immigrated to Canada to sweep her off her feet. They were married in 1958 and together raised three sons: Jerry Jr., John, and Ron. Minie and Jerry relocated to Red Deer, Alberta in 1962 where Jerry found work as a painter. In 1971, they moved to Ponoka, Alberta, and formed their own painting company, Jerry’s Painting, which they built up for over 30 years.
Minie and Jerry loved to travel back to the “old” country and made many trips during their holidays, taking the boys with them when they could. They really enjoyed their time in Arizona where Minie loved the sun, her flowers, and the hummigbirds.
Minie loved to drive, especially her motorcycle. Some of her fondest times were riding her motorcycle to rallies across Alberta, BC, and the United States. She especially enjoyed the excursions through the mountains. “Supermin” was really proud of her Honda 750 Shadow and could ride like the wind!!
Minie was very proud of her sons and would love to watch them in every sport they played. She was especially vocal at fastball and hockey games where they could hear her cheering boisterously from the stands!!
Having coffee with friends was also a priority for Minie. She always made time to chat with everyone and made sure she learned the names of all the servers in order to call them by their names or nicknames that she would affectionately give them.
Minie will be held lovingly in the hearts of her husband Jerry Sr.; children Jerry Jr. (Krista), John (Debi-lynn), Ron (Laura), and daughter-in-law Debbie; her grandchildren Leela, Amye, Jacob (Brittany), Jason (Shannon), and Jesse (Sarah); and her great-grandchildren Emma, Dawson, Tyson, and Hadley. She will also be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sisters Kay, Trudy (Jack), Liz, Ann, and Kristine; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Minie was predeceased by her parents John and Allie Stuivenberg, her sister Allie, and grandson Ryan Witvoet.
Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society.
