Mom passed away peacefully November 19, 2021, in the exceptional and tender care of Carpenter Hospice. When moved to tears because the time was close, she stated I don’t want any of those sad faces please, not now or at my funeral! I want happy faces, smiling and laughing as I have. I have had a great life.
In younger years, an avid sportswoman – swimmer, golfer paddler; and call back the Hockey game is on! She worked as an accountant her entire career starting at Eatons then Stelco in Montreal, and Toole Peete Insurance in Calgary. She enjoyed a tremendous love of music.
When settled into Burlington to be closer to her kids Mom became the notorious carrot cake lady of her building, getting up at 4 am to start the baking and doing the cupcake drop for many of her amazing friends and neighbors. She loved doing it. She had lots of experience from earlier years starting a Hot Chocolate/Coffee stand with homemade gingerbread at the outdoor rink in Montreal where we played hockey and figure skated in frigid temperatures as kids.
Mom and Dad adopted both their children which she claimed to her last day the best thing she ever did in her life. Her family: Son Rod Whyte (wife Janet), Daughter Heather Dunsby (husband Steven) and her only Grandchild Jessy Whyte will miss her as will her nieces Marilyn and Karen. Her Brothers Frank and Norm especially will miss their sister; they were so close their entire lives.
She is predeceased by the love of her life, husband John. We’d like to think she is paddling and dancing with him along with her many brothers, sisters, mother, and dear friends that have led the way for her to the next journey.
A fiercely independent, hardworking woman that loved deeply and was not without flaw; God Speed Mom we love you and will miss you.
