Obituary of Michael Smith
Michael Smith late of Regina, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 93 on February 5, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Annie Smith; his eldest sister Margaret Smith; and his brother-in-law Wallace Robertson. Michael was born in Regina and grew up in the Grand Coulee district, and attended the Grand Coulee Consolidated School. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. As his chosen career, he farmed the Smith family farm, which has been in the Smith family for over 100 years, until his retirement. Michael enjoyed farming and even after retirement in Regina he would drive out to see how the seeding and harvest were progressing. On retirement Michael moved to Regina where he enjoyed his walks in Wascana Park. We will miss the annual Christmas and birthday get-togethers and our daily Skype chats. During his farming years, Michael served as a councillor of the Rural Municipality of Sherwood for many years. He was a member of St. Anne Roman Catholic Church in Regina. Michael is survived by his sister Anne Robertson of Point Claire, Quebec; his sister Kathleen Lewis and husband David of Calgary Alberta; and nephew Dr. William Michael Robertson and his wife Sharon of Nashville, Tennessee. A Private Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. followed by Interment at Regina Cemetery.
