McKinnon, Michael A.- Mulgrave,
Guysborough Co. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of
Michael A. McKinnon in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, on
Monday, May 17th, 2021 at the age of 72. Born on June 9th, 1948 he was
a son of the late Carroll and Laura (MacDonald)
McKinnon.
He grew up and lived in Mulgrave and worked for 35 years at
Quality Concrete in Auld’s Cove. After retirement Michael
was involved with St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the
town’s Heritage Centre.
He was an avid collector of vinyl country records and loved
antique shopping. However, his greatest moments were spent cutting
wood, spending time in the great outdoors and walks with his beloved
dog Katie.
Michael was predeceased by his parents; sister, Jean
(infancy); brother, John; half sister, Margaret (Bert) Seguin,
(Quebec) and brother-in-law, Phillip Crawley.
Surviving are sisters, Ruby Chisholm, Quispamsis, N.B.; Carol
Crawley, Sydney; brother, Leo (Gail) McKinnon, Linwood. As well as
many nieces and nephews. He will sadly be missed by his
goddaughter/niece, Laura Falyn MacLean Quispamsis, NB; whom he shared
a very special bond.
The family wish to thank the wonderful staff at the
Palliative Unit at St. Martha’s, Dr. Gallivan, Dr.
MacKenzie, Dr. MacCormick, Heather Brander, home care workers and
family friend Helen Richardson. Also for the many prayers, visits and
Kind gestures from friends and family. Cremation has taken place,
however due to the current Covid guidelines a Funeral mass will take
place for Michael at a later date.
