White, Melvin Stearns – 88, Bible Hill, passed away
peacefully, Sunday, September 5, 2021, in the Colchester East Hants
Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Cyril
and Viola (Blackmore) White. Melvin worked as a telegraph operator for
25 years in various places in Nova Scotia for the CNR. He later worked
for a number of years with Eddy Group, Truro. He was an avid fisherman
and hunter, and enjoyed music and playing his guitar. Melvin enjoyed
travelling the trails in his side by side with his wife Audrey and
meeting people. He was also a great hugger with people including his
wife. He was a great story teller. He was a loving husband, father and
grandfather, who loved his family and we all loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Audrey
(Brown) White; daughters, Doris Stewart (George), Upper North River;
Dianne Rae (Terry), Watervale, NS; Shelley Pettipas (Mike), Watervale,
NS; sons, Brian (Shelley), Fort McMurray, AB; Ricky (Margie),
Watervale, NS; Tim (Summer Lee), Union Centre; 12 grandchildren; 19
great-grandchildren.
No visitation by family request. Funeral service will take
place on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Mattatall~Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. April E. Hart, Student
Minister will officiate with burial to follow in Blackmore Memorial
Cemetery, Upper North River. (Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating is
limited and you must pre-register to attend the funeral service by
calling 902-893-3177; thank you for your cooperation and
understanding. Webcasting of the funeral service will begin at 1:55
p.m., Sunday, Sept.11, 2021 and will remain on this site for some
