Marentette, Mary Louise (nee Marshall)
Mary passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Windsor Regional Hospital – Metropolitan Campus at the age of 77.
She was born on April 19, 1944, in Windsor, ON, and was the daughter of the late Duncan and Peggy (Harris) Marshall.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Ronald Marentette (2019) for over 53 years. Both Windsor born, they made Chatham their home.
Mary was the loving and proud mother of Scott (Helen Kim) (Thornhill, ON) and Drew (Mary Turner) (West Branch, Michigan).
She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Hunter, Ethan and Madeline Marentette; and Haley, Zachary, Joey and Nick Marentette.
Mary was the dear sister of John, her twin (2021) and Nancy Gignac (Windsor), and sister-in-law to Mary Marentette (Belle River), and Pam Marshall (Windsor).
Mary will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mary was a registered nurse, a graduate of the Metropolitan Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. She loved working in both the operating room and emergency units. Her nursing career included working in Metropolitan Hospital (Windsor), St. Joseph Hospital (Chatham) and long term care (Wallaceburg). Upon retiring Mary devoted time to volunteering in palliative care.
Mary never lost her love for tennis whether playing and competing in earlier years or watching competitive matches later on. She loved to travel throughout Canada and the United States, the tropics, and Europe with family and friends. Mary was a fierce bridge and euchre player and loved visiting the Windsor Casino where she had very good luck playing the slots. She never missed an opportunity to go shopping or out for a meal at one of her favourite restaurants. In the last 2 years Mary was a resident at Amica Riverside. She loved the people there, staff and new friends.
Mary will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at a later date.
