Peacefully on June 12, 2021 at Extendicare Cobourg, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of Charles for 66 years. Loving mother of Gary (Charlotte) and Susan (Garth) Beer. Cherished grandmother of Andrew (Shy) Ross, Emily (Brandon) Ross and Graham Beer. Dear sister of the late Ethel Wright, late Ruth Low and late Margaret Dundas. Special Aunt to Margaret Hachey and the late Barbara Reinheardt. Special friend to Sara Jewell Mattinson and Doris.
Colleen grew up in Brighton, Ontario and taught in a one room school house. She married her high school sweetheart Charles on March 24, 1951 before moving to Cobourg. Colleen was an involved member of Trinity United Church. She loved spending time with the congregation and United Church Women (UCW). Memories were shared travelling to Vermont at Shore Acres on Lake Champlain, England and Scotland.
Colleen loved telling and reading stories in the porch of the family home. Always learning about history, geography and current events. She proudly collected ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas books and Royalty books. Colleen actively enjoyed skating, riding her bike and visiting Downtown Cobourg.
A profound love for the Cobourg Highland Games, and was Cobourg Media’s #1 fan. Colleen was a dear friend to many, our hero and an inspiration with so much hope and kindness.
A visitation will take place at Trinity United Church on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 1 pm with the service following at 2 pm. Interment at Cobourg Union Cemetery. Anyone wishing to attend MUST RSVP on the website. The family wish to thank the nurses and staff at Extendicare Cobourg. Donations to Trinity United Church would be appreciated by the family.
