Roberta Bertha Verge Markovich, Baba; These are the names of a woman who lived full, multiple, lives in one. And, she touched so many along the way.
She left the world at 97 years old on September 9, 2021. She will leave behind her daughter Marianka and beloved granddaughters Meggie, Robyn and Devin.
Her spirit was strong, and rare, but gentle. No matter the bad day, she would always find the good in her own little world and say, “Make life nice for you”. She never complained. She was quick-witted, always young at heart, and she could make a cuss sound charming.
Born in 1924, She grew up in an orphanage in Belgium. She journeyed many miles and lifetimes, and in between those she lived in many places across Canada, fell in love with Shisko Markovich, and had her first and only daughter Marianka.
She loved photography, painting, nature, garage sailing, and Waikiki, Hawaii. Though that doesn’t even touch on how to describe her passions, or what she made of her life.
We would like to give a “Shout Out” to the staff on Reids Corner at Sunpointe Village; their love and care for my Mama will never be forgotten.
