Obituary of Marion Florence Watters
Marion Florence Watters (Sullivan) of Herring Cove
It is with tremendous sadness that our family, announces the passing of our beloved Mum & Nanny at the Caritas Residence in Halifax on the 13th of July, 2021.
Marion was a life long resident of Herring Cove for 94 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Jerome and Myrtle Sullivan, her beloved husband Bob; and her son, Gerald Michael; as well as her sister, Edna Pettie, and her brothers Gerald and John Sullivan.
She is survived by her daughter Carol (Ed), and her sons, Keith (Heather), Jim (Kimmie) and Larry (Christina). Marion had 9 grandchildren; Krista, Bobby, Dan, Laurie, Tyler, Luke, Michael, Jordan and Aaron. Mum was also blessed to have 9 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Nicholas, Owen, Alex, Andrew, Brooklyn, Anthony, McGuire and Abigail.
Mum loved gardening and would sit on her deck to admire her lovely flowers every chance she had. She played cards every week for over 50 odd years with her long time friends in Herring Cove. Mum loved to travel and was ready to go anytime. She also loved to dance and taught all of her kids to enjoy it as much as she did. Mum and her very dear friend Olive swam a couple of times a week at the Spryfield pool for years.
Mum also enjoyed going to the Casino and spent many pennies there. She was also an incredible cook and baker – her tea biscuits, chocolate chip cookies and apple danishes were world class. Mum’s sister Edna always described her as a spirited filly, all the things that she was afraid to try, Mum would say «no time like now, Edna.»
Mum was always the “go to” person in our family for advice when needed and we all needed it at times. Mum’s passing will leave an empty place in our hearts forever but knowing that she dances in heaven with her beloved parents, husband, son and her sister & brothers give us peace in our grief and healing.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Caritas Residence who showed such kindness & care to our mother.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family funeral service will be held on July 22nd at 2:30pm at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax with Father Paul Macintosh officiating. Burial will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Herring Cove.
