Marion Heck April 9 2021

Obituary
HECK, Marion (D’Amico)
June 28, 1951 – April 9, 2021
It is with profound sadness that the family of Marion Mary Heck announce her peaceful passing on April 9, 2021 at the age of 69. She will be remembered by her loving husband of 52 years, Bob; son Shaun (Kerri) and daughter Shannon (Denis) de Champlain; her four grandchildren Ryan, Ethan, Zach and Kennedy as well as her brothers Jim (Donna) D’Amico, Wayne D’Amico and Gavin (Brenda) D’Amico and numerous friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her brothers George and Guy and her parents Guido and Frankie.
Marion was born in Nordegg, AB, the 4th of six children and the only girl, to Guido and Frankie D’Amico. She grew up in Calgary and Eckville, and it is here she met her life partner and best friend, Bob. A loving wife and mother, her most cherished role was Nana to her four grandchildren. She was known to play from morning to night: board games, cards, hide & seek, even mini sticks and nerf guns. Marion loved music, she was always singing and dancing. Many a hairbrush, curling iron or wooden spoon served as a microphone for her performances in our home and hers was the favorite voice around the fire in Nordegg. She made a mean spaghetti sauce, and the best cabbage rolls you’ve ever tasted.
Marion and Bob moved 14 times during their marriage and with her loving personality, kind spirit and great sense of humor, she made friends everywhere she went. She worked hard and had many jobs through her life: cleaning the CPR bunkhouse in Coronation, Richardson’s Jewelers in Camrose, Fort Sask Bakery (Howard’s), housekeeping at Henwood and Canada Post in Plenty, Sask to name a few. In her younger years she enjoyed curling and bowling, joining the ladies/mixed leagues. She got involved in Dinner Theater in Plenty, Sask and was the star of the show. She sang in many choirs including The Fireside Singers in Regina and The Morinville Minstrels. In her later years, she could be found at her grandchildren’s sporting events or out at the trailer in Nordegg with her family and friends. She was able to travel a bit, going to Mexico, Hawaii, Cuba and accomplishing her lifelong dream to seeing Italy. In her final years, fighting cancer, she was a warrior, strong and brave, right up to the end.
She will be missed more then words can say but we know she will be always watching over us.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Brit and the staff of Unit 43 at the Grey Nuns Hospital as well as Dr. Joseph and Dr. Joy of the Cross Cancer Institute, and her family Dr. Lokhandwala of Westlock. Donations in Marion’s memory can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Cross Cancer Institute 11560 – University Avenue Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2.
